I hear ya Joe! It’s rare when you find a celebrity who’s just doing what they do because they love it. You could take away the money, fame, and status, and they would still be doing what they love. In this case, it’s the Atlanta Hawks’ own Joe Johnson.
Over the weekend, Johnson was phenomenal. He scored more points that Kobe Bryant in a game (take that Kobe!), made differences on defense that Steve Nash couldn’t, and collected more rebounds than most forwards. I would say that he should be the talk of the nation. But he isn’t.
That’s the way it usually goes for Johnson, but he doesn’t care; he just lives to play the game.
“It doesn’t bother me, man,” Johnson said. “I am in love with the game. I play this game for fun. I’ve enjoyed it. I’ve been blessed to play nine years. I’m at a great point in my life. We are in the playoffs. I could care less what people say or write about me. I’m still going to play the right way.” Courtesy of ajc.com
Well said Joe, well said.
I’m slightly worried about Joe’s upcoming free agent status this summer. It seems that whenever the Hawks get a quality player under their belt, they trade them or lose them. I hope that doesn’t happen this term. I like that kid.
How do you feel about the Hawks being in the playoffs?
