Stockbridge Community Update: Volunteer To Help W/ The IRS’ Tax Help Program!

Posted on October 26, 2011 By jodimott (Edit) Leave a Comment

Show of hands–have you ever needed tax help at some point in time? You’re not alone, thousands of other households need the same help preparing their taxes each year. If you think you have what it takes, volunteer in the IRS’s new free tax-help assistance program. Not to worry, volunteers will be trained throughout the program.

Volunteer With The IRS

Over 11oo people volunteered last year in the tax and counseling programs here in GA. If you wish to volunteer for the next program rollout, training will begin next month and last until January 2012! Training is done at a timely pace via the online Link & Learn Tax Program, in which volunteers then earn certification! How cool is that?

When tax time rolls around next year, volunteers spend about 3-4 hours/week preparing household taxes and/or assisting in filling out the correct forms, and going through tax counseling with individuals. Other capabilities include: site coordinator/site manager and greeting people.

Read more about the volunteer opportunity! Email or call Joci Padrutt (404) 338-8387 for additional information on how to sign up!

Maybe residents who volunteer can host their own tax help sessions here at Southwinds Stockbridge! Residents and neighbors would love the help… Share  your thoughts below…
