Take Your Family for a Hike this Summer at Panola Mountain State Park
Spending time outside enjoying the beautiful summer weather is a great way to reconnect with your family. When you’re looking for things to do in Stockbridge, go for a hike at the Panola Mountain State Park.
Situated on more than 1,000 acres near Atlanta, the Panola Mountain State Park gives visitors the beauty of Atlanta’s landscape to explore. Panola Mountain is a National Natural Landmark, and as you explore the area, it can be a good opportunity to teach children about conservation and preserving the landscape and wildlife of Georgia. You can choose to hike on your own, or arrange a guided hike of the restricted-access mountain with a park ranger. Guided hikes are available by reservation every Saturday morning at 10:00. Pets are not allowed on Panola Mountain, but leashed dogs, as well as bicycles, are welcome on the Rockdale River/Arabia Mountain PATH Trail, which is paved.
The park is open daily from 7:00 a.m. until dusk. The Nature Center is open daily from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., but is closed on Wednesdays. Picnic shelters and conference rooms are available for visitor use by reservation. Come explore your world by taking a hike at Panola Mountain State Park.
